STEP Debates

STEP Debates was founded with one purpose: to empower young people through debate, public speaking, and critical thinking. We believe every student deserves the confidence to express ideas, challenge perspectives, and become a future leader. Through tournaments, workshops, and interactive events, we create opportunities for students across Uzbekistan to grow both academically and personally. STEP stands for Speak, Think, Express, Persuade—the values at the heart of our community. Founded by Firdavs Fazliddinov, STEP is driven by a vision of making debate accessible to everyone and helping young people discover their voice, build confidence, and create a positive impact in society.

The idea behind STEP Debates quickly became something much bigger than one person. To build the team, I personally reached out to every member one by one, sharing the vision and inviting them to become part of it. Before organizing our first major events, we held more than 10 team-building meetings to strengthen our communication, define our values, assign responsibilities, and create a culture of trust and collaboration. Those conversations and meetings turned a group of passionate students into a united team working toward the same mission: helping young people find their voice and grow through debate.
